Extremely disappointed. I came to check out this spot with my friends and we were very impressed with band. After about 5 minutes of being in the restaurant a man who appeared to be the owner came up to us and very aggressively started asking why we weren't buying drinks (while we were looking at the drink and food menu). We politely asked him for a couple minutes to decide on our drinks but before we could even finish he proceeded to say we need to support him and it costs them money to pay for the band. He then began to yell at us and say we dont have respect and called us Americans. He said if we don't buy now then we can get out.. and with that we had enough.
I will not tolerate that type of disrespect from someone who is clearly benefiting from my culture. He assumed we were Americans and must have thought it was ok to speak to us in a very disrespectful way.
As the 3 out of 6 people in the bar, he pretty much ruined any chances of getting our business with his lack of class and sheer disrespect. Because of the scene he was making in the bar we decided to leave. First time in Thailand and first time at this bar - this guy single handedly ruined the night with his ignorance, terrible attitude and ego. Really unfortunate because the band was good! If he came to Jamaica he would never been treated this way. Whether he was buying a drink or not. Never judge a book by its cover, treat everyone with respect, your business depends on it.
After an amazing night at the night bazaar my friends and I decided to head over to Rasta Cafe. We were greeted with amazing live music and wanted to get food however we were told at that time food would take long to prepare and it was drinks only. We started to look through the drink menu when we were approached by a man that appeared to be the owner and he aggressively said to us “ you need to buy drinks, you need to support us and the band cost money”. We repeated numerous times “ we are looking there’s no need to yell sir” and he kept repeating “ you need to buy something”. Then stated very angrily “ you need to buy something or get out”. Obviously not feeling welcomed anymore we left, which truly ruined the night as we were prepared to buy a bunch of drinks. We will never go to this location again and we hope this issue is addressed immediately. Hopefully other locations in this lovely country are way better.

(Translated by Google) We had ordered a mojito and were given a cup with small chopped crushed ice and syrup... of alcohol, mint or lime... there was nothing to see or taste... a shame, because the location itself would be really cool . Oh yes, the employees weren't very friendly...

(Translated by Google) Total rip off, no alcohol in the cocktails! When we asked the staff about it, the Thai people became really aggressive and called us European alcoholics. Absolutely cannot recommend this bar.

Totale Abzocke, kein Alkohol in den Cocktails! Als wir das Personal darauf Ansprachen, wurden die Thaimaikaner richtig aggressiv und beschimpften uns als European Alcoholics. Kann diese Bar absolut nicht empfehlen.
Good drinks, even if the waiter mixed up the orders
Very nice place with live music too...but if you cross the bridge out of old town you find other nice bars with live music too...where beers cost is half! I'm talking a 5 (five) minutes walk.
live music...cheap beers...and the owner is the best....a quick walk from night bazaar...best place to relax in Chiang mai
