Cannabis Tourism Thailand 2025

A Practical Guide for Visitors

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

Pre-arrival (within 72 hours before your flight), you must complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Avoid third-party sites that charge fees. Prepare your passport, flight details, accommodation, recent travel history and contact info. Keep your confirmation QR/email handy for arrival checks.

Document checklist

Passport, return/onward ticket, TDAC confirmation, local accommodation details, and funds/insurance as required by immigration.

For official information and to complete your TDAC, visit tdac.in.th.

Medical-use only: You need a Thai prescription

Prescriptions issued overseas are not valid in Thailand. After arrival, visit a licensed clinic or a dispensary partnered with a clinic to obtain a medical assessment and prescription. Authorized prescribers include Thai-licensed doctors, dentists, Thai traditional medicine practitioners and pharmacists. Prescriptions typically state your condition, dosage, product type and are valid up to 30 days.

Finding a provider

Clinics can prescribe directly; many dispensaries partner with clinics to facilitate on-site or remote consultations with licensed practitioners.

What to expect at the consult

You will be asked about your symptoms, history, prior treatments and sensitivities. The practitioner may recommend product types (flower, tincture, capsule) and dosing guidance, typically for up to 30 days.

You can also complete an online consultation and obtain a Thai prescription via card.weed.th.

Phor Thor 33 (ภ.ท.33) dispensing record

Every purchase at a licensed dispensary is recorded on the Phor Thor 33 form, which includes the prescriber’s license, your details, diagnosis, dosage, quantity and the date. The form ties each fill to a single dispensary and a 30‑day supply limit. Keep your prescription and receipts on you in case of checks.

Understanding PT.33 mechanics

PT.33 links your fill to the prescriber and dispensary, records quantity and date, and helps enforce monthly supply limits and traceability.

Key rules for tourists

  • No public smoking or nuisance; use only in private settings.
  • Buy only from licensed dispensaries; no online sales or vending machines.
  • Extracts must contain ≤0.2% THC by weight; higher-THC extracts are controlled.
  • Carry your prescription, PT.33 receipt, and ID when transporting products.
  • Do not export cannabis or products out of Thailand.

Step-by-step

  1. 72h before flight: submit TDAC; bring confirmation.
  2. After arrival: book clinic/partnered dispensary consult; obtain Thai prescription (valid up to 30 days).
  3. Purchase at licensed dispensary; PT.33 issued with each fill.
  4. Use privately; obey local rules; keep documents with you.

Frequently asked

Can I bring my own medicine?
Bringing cannabis products into Thailand is restricted. Do not bring high-THC extracts or flower. Obtain products locally with a Thai prescription.

Are edibles or vapes allowed?
Only products sold by licensed dispensaries for medical use are allowed. Public use, advertising and sales to minors are prohibited.

Are international prescriptions honored?
No. Foreign prescriptions are not recognized. You must obtain a new Thai prescription after arrival from a licensed Thai practitioner (clinic or clinic-partnered dispensary).

How long is a Thai prescription valid?
Typically up to 30 days. Each purchase is recorded on a PT.33 form. Keep within the prescribed amounts and carry your documents when transporting products.

What if I lose my prescription or PT.33?
Contact the issuing clinic/dispensary to request copies or reissue where permitted. Keep digital backups if provided.

Compliance and penalties

Public nuisance from smoking may lead to fines or charges. Unlicensed purchases, advertising, sale to minors, or exporting products can result in serious penalties.
